Why We’re Here

Imagine stepping out of the tent in the morning immediately aware of your senses. The mist and fog over the lake creates a mysterious landscape that you both see and feel, the birds sing and share the morning gossip, and the fresh smell of the forest connects you to nature, instantly removing the city stresses. You can feel your heartbeat slow as you let your feet connect with the soft moss under you. Taking deep breaths, you thank the morning for providing this gift while standing quietly or perhaps stretching slowly and with purpose. You feel the connection to the rhythms of the earth, and you begin to heal and recover from the busy-ness of life. Peace is the gift given this day, but this is only the first of many.

Finding Your Way Adventure Company is a unique business combining wonderful backcountry tripping adventures with mindfulness & contemplative activities, and Forest Therapy invitations which provide clients with an immersive, transformative experience. This opportunity helps to connect us, heal us, and transform our understanding of how we can and should live on Earth. Our company name plays on the idea that we are not only learning how to find our way in nature and feel confident in wild spaces, but also that we will find ourselves and find our way toward inner truth and peace.

Grateful to be sharing many of these experiences throughout Turtle Island, we acknowledge that we are most often travelling across unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Territory where Algonquin Peoples, traditionally known as Anishinaabe, have lived and cared for the land since time immemorial. We take this time to offer our gratitude and respect to Anishinaabe and other Indigenous Nations who’s land we visit while exploring the various lakes and trails around Turtle Island. We commit to learning more about the impacts of colonization and to foster connections with Indigenous peoples and the land that allows for reconciliation and growth. We are only visitors here and with that mindset, we choose to act in solidarity with Indigenous People on the path of decolonization and the reclamation of traditional ways of being.

We invite you to browse through our site and learn more about how Nature can provide that deep and meaningful Inner Journey in the Outdoors. We look forward to sharing this journey together very soon. Peace and be well.
